The Outside Clinic Home Eye Tests in association with Lloydspharmacy

Working with Lloydspharmacy

The Outside Clinic is pleased to announce that it works with Lloydspharmacy to tackle the chronic under-provision of domiciliary optometry services to the over 60s.

Lloydspharmacy, the national community-based pharmacist with a network of nearly 1700 stores, will now be sign posting its customers to optometry services by The Outside Clinic. The service will be available free of charge for those individuals who cannot attend a High Street practice unaccompanied for a sight test.

The RNIB has over recent years repeatedly highlighted the grave issue of under-provision of sight testing for the elderly housebound. Recent Government statistics demonstrate that despite these constant reports there has been no significant increase in annual eye examinations in this high risk group. In its most recent report (Older People and Eye Tests) the RNIB drew attention to the lack of awareness of the importance of eye testing within this group.

Lloydspharmacy, which has a high percentage of elderly customers, is perfectly placed to increase awareness of this sight-saving service. The Outside Clinic with over 22 years experience in delivering home optometry is equally well placed to respond to the raised awareness created through Lloydspharmacy, by conducting regular eye testing and, where necessary, taking remedial action, thus enabling considerable cost savings in terms of reduced falls and ongoing cost to support the partially sighted and blind.
