The Outside Clinic Home Eye Tests in association with Lloydspharmacy

Our optometrists use an ophthalmoscope to shine a light into your eye, allowing them to examine the health of the eye, inside and out.

They will use a retinoscope which is used in a comprehensive eye examination to give the optometrist an indication of what kind of prescription you may need.

They will also conduct an assessment of the eye muscles to evaluate the ability of your eyes to work together.

In certain circumstances your optometrist may feel it necessary to perform one or more additional tests during your examination, these may have to take place at a later date.

Field Analysis:-

A fields machine is used for this test;

Flashing lights are shown over the field of your vision while you stare at a target in the centre.

This is used to check for the possible presence of blind spots in your field of vision, which could indicate the presence of certain types of glaucoma.

Dilation:-

Specific eye drops can be used to widen your pupils. The larger the pupil, the bigger the "window" to look through. This allows the optometrist to have a better view of the back of the eye.

When eye drops are used for dilation, the pupils may stay dilated for up to 6 hours. This may make your vision a little blurry and you may be a little sensitive to bright lights for this time.

Proceed to stage 3 - Eye Pressure
