Anchor is England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for older people.
For more than 40 years, we have been helping some of the most vulnerable people in society. A not-for-profit organisation with a powerful social purpose, we provide services ranging from help around the home to specialist dementia care to more than 50,000 customers every week.
We offer affordable rented flats and bungalows at 700 locations across the country, offering customers the reassuring prospect of leading an independent lifestyle within a supportive community. Our retirement properties are well maintained and pleasant to live in; each of our customers have their own front door and the freedom to decorate their home exactly as they wish. Pets are welcome at all our properties and guest rooms are available for friends and family to come and stay. We are strong believers in the value of a dedicated scheme manager, with all of our properties overseen by a friendly manager who can offer support and help in an emergency. We also provide a 24-hour emergency alarm system, AnchorCall, for any security, health, or support concerns.
Our nursing homes and care homes offer a warm, safe, and friendly environment where people can maintain their independence if they wish, but have access to support if they need it. Privacy and choice are high on our list of priorities, with personal care tailored to meet individual needs. Our supporting team of experts are on hand to offer specialist care if required, supporting people with more complex nursing needs and dementia. 85% of our 96 homes are rated “good” or “excellent” by the Care Quality Commission, rewarding our commitment to the promotion of person-centred care. In addition, our care homes have won national recognition for their catering, offering residents freshly-cooked, nutritious meals.
We also provide care in the home, and our years of experience guarantee we’ll provide customers with a reliable service, enabling them to maintain the independence to enjoy life to the full whatever their personal care needs. We pride ourselves on providing a truly personal service supported by locally-based specialist teams, so whether they’re looking for a carer for themselves or someone they love, customers can be safe in the knowledge that a real effort is made to match each carer with each customer.
