JimFBDO- National Trainer

"During my twenty year career in optics I have worked for a fairly even spread of independent and multiple practices. Each half of the sector offer some good, and some not so favourable aspects of their patient care and staff benefits. Working for The Outside Clinic now finally gives me 'the best of both worlds'. Four years in and I have seen The Outside Clinic evolve into a company with a more organised and corporate edge. The staff across all departments are very friendly, helpful and supportive. The Outside Clinic use the latest in equipment and technology, from I-care tonometers and satellite navigation, to telematic vehicle tracking and state of the art record keeping, which makes our jobs a lot easier. I have experienced a variety of roles, and learned a lot more about the industry, and myself! Throughout my career in optics, I have always taken pride and satisfaction in doing something worthwhile, but never so much as working for this company, by serving vulnerable members of the community that cannot reach the High Street for their eye care. Also, for the first time in my career I do not work on weekends or Bank Holidays, which is a real plus." (back to top)

"I love challenges and meeting different people and The Outside Clinic offers me just that, no two days are the same. Sometimes the work can be demanding but we are well supported by our team in the head office, all problems are easily solved. Our patients make the job so rewarding and you feel that you are able to make a real difference to their lives every day is very enjoyable. Having every weekend and bank holiday off is just what I needed as a mum!" (back to top)

SamQOA3 -National Trainer

"Having worked on the high street for a number of years as a practice manager the training role provides me with a great diversity in tasks and skills, and of course, with The Outside Clinic no two days are ever the same!

As a trainer I work closely with the Super Optoms, Dispensing Opticians and Optical Assistants. The role ranges from support days to working through a comprehensive induction and training programme for all new starters. I have discovered that training is a two way experience I'm always learning each day from my colleagues and enjoy the close working relationship I  have with staff at all levels throughout the company. From my own performance seeing the direct improvements and development from the training programme and the feedback I receive is very rewarding.

With it being a national role I do cover a lot of miles across the country and personally enjoy seeing new areas and meeting new people. Our patient base are extremely appreciative of the service we provide and I take pleasure in helping them with their often diverse optical needs." (back to top)

Chantelle FBDO - Dispensing Optician

"My role within The Outside Clinic gives me the opportunity to use both of my professional qualifications. As both a Hearing Aid Dispenser and a Dispensing Optician, I enjoy the variation each day brings. Whether it's a hearing aid or a pair of spectacles it's extremely rewarding to know I've helped." Tony FBDO- Dispensing Optician

"I work as a dispensing optician for the outside clinic. My job is very varied, challenging but most of all very rewarding. The role involves working to a set schedule which could include routine deliveries, dispensing new spectacles, doing aftercare's and at times field screening. The aftercare process could be anything from a routine adjustment to problem solving if a patient is having difficulties with the new glasses. Since I started at the outside clinic my role has progressed to that of regional co-ordinator which involves me being responsible for a small team of optical technicians. Once a week I spend a day with a member of that team helping them maintain the high standards the outside clinic is famous for. The best part of the role is that because we travel to see patients in their own home you feel that you are really making a difference to people and therefore you as a person feel valued. There is an immense feeling of job satisfaction when the majority of patients are really delighted to see you." (back to top)
